In July 2010, Camper organised the workshop ”Master class in master crafts“ . Under Mallorca’s summer sun, the workshop gathered designers, craftsmen and lecturers from different horizons to learn and create shoes.
Lace Shoe is inspired by the way that espadrille’s soles are produced. The investigation aims at combining efficient tools and processes in harmony with leather shoe craftsmanship. In a dynamic gesture, the shoe is drawn directly on the shoe last with a wet leather stripe. The relief of the mould influences the gesture, and the leather lace adapts in rhythm to this geography, covering the whole foot at once.
