The production of porcelain vases is made with plaster moulds composed of different parts. The Superimposed Vases series has been developed with the idea that different sections of moulds, arranged in different ways, would offer a wide range of shapes. The eventual forms of the vases are defined by a random combinations of moulds according to the production cadence and the number of times the sections are used.
First experimenting with 2D collages and then with plaster dragging, this research was guided by the constraint of drawing sections that are compatible.
The versatility of the project allowed for a fluid dialogue with the manufacture. Adjustments could easily be made.
